I know that talk of district raids gets everyone all riled up and nervous, but if you're following the law, you are in no danger of arrest. It's for the greater good of the city, so relax, man up, and just be where you're supposed to be. |

I hope you all got out there and voted earlier this week, New York. I know people like to forget how important city council is. If it's not a presidential election, the turnout at the polls is pathetic in comparison. But to those of you who voted, good job. You are an upstanding member of society, and you deserve to be rewarded with a candidate that will serve you well, uphold American values, and adhere to the government policy. Looking over the names we have here, I would bet on this being an exciting race. Even the foreigners will have a little column to call their own, because this is America, and we are nothing if not a melting pot of good, bad, ugly, and freedom. Representation for all residents, so no bitching complaining, especially if you neglected to put your vote in. Whose fault is that? And remember, always vote early and vote often.
So how about those Nightsticks, huh? I have to admit, I'm a little bit of a Hammerheads fan, but that was a good show. I heard there was a big soccer game in some country that shouldn't matter to any of us. Too bad about the connection, but you know how satellites can be. It's just soccer, anyway. |

Happy Fourth, Americans. Enjoy yourselves today, go to a ball game, eat your weight in hotdogs. Remember, you are in one of the greatest cities in the world this week, and there won't be anything like the fireworks over the Hudson tonight. And just a little PSA to all you foreigners out there who think it might be mighty funny to play around with fireworks toward any nefarious ends: the FDNY may have your back if you set your own ass on fire, but the NYPD doesn't take kindly to law-breakers, least of all law-breakers who go around making a mockery of our nation's birthday. Show a little respect. And remember, you could be somewhere else right now, where they hate freedom and outlaw fireworks and don't even know what baseball is. Just count yourselves lucky to be among the good old folks in the land of the free, and enjoy the holiday. |
